"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God." – Romans 5:1-2
"Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.’" – Luke 2: 13-14
"This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’" – Matthew 6:9-10
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." – Philippians 4:6-7
HOW ARE THESE FOUR SCRIPTURES CONNECTED? And before you say that they are all in the Bible, dig a little deeper. What truths tie each of these together?
let em rip, paul. tear em up, literary man. my brain will hopefully kick back into creative freedom gear after this holiday… or maybe it will turn to mush. whatever the case, just interacting with you is fun… even if it is through nerdy kinda stuff like book reviews. maybe we could even do something more cool, like CFL analysis. Then again, maybe that’s not more cool.
sounds good. perhaps having some book reviews with both our thoughts so as to offer our wide aray of viewers a more dynamic “conversation”…since my writing skills pale in comparison to the great Pastor Castor…
at present, our ministry areas are moving away from youth ministry specific investment, so whatever it looks like, it might be prone to be more about spiritual development and church leadership???
perhaps… what would be the best way?— Also… I want you to send me reviews of books so I can put ’em on this new review page. I’ll give you 100% of the credit for your reviews and 50% of the royalties… which ought to amount to an average of $0.00 over the course of several months.
maybe you should start a “favorite resource/books” thread?
You should be pretty developed by now, Paul! Thanks for the link. Hey, do you think other people are watching our conversation and have forgotten what this post was originally about?
pastoral development budgets are awesome!
since i am unable to read the original languages i go to resources which offer insight into such areas.
it would be my opinion that much of what Rob Bell has expressed in a few of his Nooma videos was learnt from people like Dwight A Pryor.
you can find the resource on sale here: http://www.jcstudies.com/store/home.php?cat=5
I haven’t seen that one, Paul. Where do you get all this money for DVD’s from? What else can you tell me about this series?
have you watched the DVD series by Dwight A. Pryor? If not, it’s worth the $150. there are 12 sessions and it is quite insightful in regards to this area and others. it’s called “Behold the Man.”
Good, Paul. The Lord’s prayer is so interesting to me. Here is Jesus, the ruler of the kingdom of heaven, who is acting out the will of the Father. He tells us to pray that Our Father’s kingdom would come and that his will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. How does all this work?
“In the beginning was the Peace, and the Peace was with God, and the Peace was God…that Peace became incarnate..and that peace was sent through the Comforter so that we might live as people of peace…infectiously transforming our communities through peace.”
i’m pretty sure the real answer is a squirrel though…
