WHY ARE WE GOING TO NORTHERN IRELAND?
The emerging generation of Northern Ireland
is fleeing the church. Statistics show that those aged 18-25 are
"driven to disaffection" with religion. 62% of those 18-25 say they
have been victims of physical and/or sectarian abuse related to their
religious upbringings.* Those born after 1975 are increasingly
rejecting the Protestant or Catholic affiliation of their parents.**
Patterns of church attendance show significant, consistent decline from
67% in 1989 to 50% in 2004.** By 2011, those claiming "no religion"
