Romans 3:24-26 ~ God is Good News

Louie-ramirez-good-news-front  The Good News has always been God.

The Good News is not us.  The Good News is God.

God is Good News.

We are bad news.  We are the ones who messed it up.  We are the ones who murder, who conspire, who blame, who falter, who fail, who flounder.  We are the ones who have fallen short of God's glory.

God, on the other hand, is constantly amazing.

Look at these comments from Paul: [Romans 3:24-26 (NIV-UK)]

24 … and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.  ~ FREELY?  The Good News is that God offers his grace for FREE.  No discount.  No sale.  FREE!  And his grace is not just nice… God's grace is powerful!  God's grace redeems us… His grace actually purchases us for his ownership… purchases us for release from our dusty shelf life.  God's grace given to us at no price to us makes us right, even when we were so wrong.  God's grace came by Jesus… and so the Good News is God.

25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished  ~ How can it be that I should gain?  Well, Jesus paid it all.  The price of life was paid in full by Jesus.  Jesus was the sacrifice.  His blood was the contract agreement.  As we freely accept this, without a payment plan, without layaway, without accruing interest, we learn about God's justice… a justice based not on fair and balanced reasoning but on an extreme unbalanced love.  The price paid by God is unfair to God… and unfair to us (for we deserve otherwise).  A fair justice system would have finished us off… having fallen far to short of God's standard to be allowed to grab ahold of even the tail of God's glory.  But God's justice leaves sins unpunished… and so the Good News is God.

26 — he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. ~ In doing this, Jesus shows himself to be absolutely amazing.  How can we not be amazed?  The Good News is God.
