Study Guide – Psalm 111:4-10

Psalm111-4-10

4 He causes us to remember his wonderful works.

    How gracious and merciful is our Lord!
5 He gives food to those who fear him;
    he always remembers his covenant.
6 He has shown his great power to his people
    by giving them the lands of other nations.
7 All he does is just and good,
    and all his commandments are trustworthy.
8 They are forever true,
    to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity.
9 He has paid a full ransom for his people.
    He has guaranteed his covenant with them forever.
    What a holy, awe-inspiring name he has!
10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.
    All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.

Praise him forever! NLT

Look at verse 4. Why does God cause "us to remember"? Why do you think we are so forgetful?

Go through verses 5-9 and make a list of the wonders that God performs:

v.5     __________________________________________

          __________________________________________

v.6     __________________________________________

          __________________________________________

v.7     __________________________________________

          __________________________________________

v.8     __________________________________________

          __________________________________________

v.9     __________________________________________

          __________________________________________

Notice the reference to "reverence" in verse 10. How do verses 5-9 show reverence to the Lord?

How does the practice of remembering (v4) help us to show reverence to God?

::::: APPLICATION CHALLENGE :::::

This psalm ends with an emphatic unending challenge. This moment right now in your life is a part of "forever"… so, remembering God's wonders, take this snapshot of forever to specifically follow this command.
