BECAUSE WE CAN’T HELP OURSELVES

JESUS EVERYDAY 16

OUR WORLD NEEDS JESUS EVERYDAY because we can’t help ourselves. We see something– and we can’t resist it. We want something– and we must consume it. And the more we gain, the less we feel like we have… which only fuels our thirst for more. This perpetually spiraling cycle– craving and conquest and loss, craving and conquest and loss, craving and conquest and loss– serves to accent our emptiness and unveil our inability to satisfy our own desires. The pursuit of our own happiness leaves us disappointed in our own futility. The fleeting pleasures we have sought cannot satisfy our insatiable thirst for wholeness. We truly can’t help ourselves.

But Jesus can help us. He is able to give us what we cannot grasp. Christ alone can give us the full-fill-ment we were created to have.

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. – Romans 5:6 NLT
