“Whoever defends himself will have himself for his defense, and he will have no other. But let him come defenseless before the Lord and he will have for his defender no less than God himself.” – AW Tozer, Pursuit of God
Tozer’s quote hits me firmly and refreshingly today. My prayers this morning revolved around my needs to be noticed, to excuse my failures, and most likely to be affirmed. But I know that the person who attempts to justify his actions to God ends up speaking alone. Eventually each of us must relent, must listen, and must accept the justification God provides. Only when I stop to listen do I begin to hear the voice of Jesus already pleading on my behalf.
